If you're looking for an easy, beginner rag rug project then look no further than this pre-assembled rectangular cushion cover. It requires no prep and no assembly, so you can merrily fill it with rag rugging with none of the extra work.
Cover as much or as little of the hessian as you'd like (just one side of the cushion or both, right up to the edges or just a central motif) and at the end of your project, once you're happy with the design, simply unzip the cover, insert your cushion pad and voilà - you’re done!
This 3D, pre-assembled hessian project lends itself particularly well to the proggy / shaggy and
short shaggy techniques where you work entirely from the front of the hessian, but also can be used for
loopy rug hooking) and locker hooking. It's the perfect beginner project.

Our Ragged Life hessian features a medium 10 HPI weave, making it suitable for a wide range of rag rugging techniques. It’s durable enough for dense designs while still being easy to work with - ideal whether you’re new to rag rugging or have years of experience.
You can draw your design directly onto the hessian using a permanent marker pen, and any marks will be covered as your rag rugging builds - so you can experiment with confidence.
